Tim’s practice focuses on advising financial institutions on several matters involving litigation, transactional strategy, and regulatory compliance. He uses his experience as a former in-house counsel to connect to his clients and provide them with an insider’s perspective to serve their business goals best. 

Before joining Adams and Reese, Tim served as in-house counsel at the Texas Bankers Association. He advised employees at over 300 financial institutions of various sizes on consumer and commercial regulatory compliance and best practices relating to areas such as the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Truth in Savings Act (TISA), the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Lending, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act, Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). As in-house counsel, Tim also drafted educational resources to help financial institutions navigate areas related to banking regulation and conducted several educational presentations to reinforce the fundamentals of regulatory compliance.

During law school, Tim served as an in-house legal intern for a large financial institution in Texas. He assisted in drafting loan documents, security agreements, business association agreements, and lease and purchase agreements for the bank. Additionally, Tim served as a judicial intern at the Probate Court of Dallas County, where he assisted with and observed numerous matters, including intestate succession, will contests, and guardianship proceedings. Tim also has experience advising clients on estate planning matters and drafting documents such as trusts and wills.
