With several years of experience in the legal field, I bring an optimistic energy and creative approach when serving clients at the intersection of business and government.
Victoria Shoots focuses her practice on business and government, assisting clients with matters in Alabama and elsewhere.
Prior to joining the firm, Victoria completed the John Lewis Fellowship with the Legal Services of Alabama. In her role, Victoria represented clients in administrative proceedings before the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review regarding their disability reconsideration status. She also advised clients on issues including COVID-19 unemployment compensation, SNAP benefits, and Supplemental Security Income. Among the accomplishments she achieved during her fellowship, Victoria developed a microenterprise program to create a pipeline of legal support for low-income entrepreneurs in southern Alabama.
Before serving as a John Lewis Fellow, Victoria served as a Legislative Analyst for a government relations firm in Washington, D.C., where she was also admitted to the D.C. Bar. In this role, she prepared reports from committee and subcommittee hearings during the 116th Congress on intellectual property, healthcare, data privacy, and antitrust policy. Victoria also researched federal antitrust investigations in higher education and litigation involving the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, as well as wrote weekly articles highlighting Congressional activity around corporate taxation.
Victoria has volunteered for a variety of organizations, including “Free the Captives”, a faith-based 501(c)3 nonprofit fighting teenaged sex trafficking in Houston. Victoria also gives her time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, a volunteer-supported mentoring network, and the Boys and Girls Club of South Alabama.
