Adams and Reese attorney Will Umbach has been accepted into the Leadership Columbia Class of 2015-2016. Leadership Columbia is a Columbia Chamber program that recognizes emerging and existing community leaders who hold potential to move Columbia forward, and offers them a unique opportunity to grow professionally through team collaboration in exploring regional issues, fine tuning leadership skills and harnessing individual passions and perspectives.
Over a period of 10 months, Umbach and fellow participants will attend a retreat and eight leadership sessions, and will complete a hands-on class project – gaining a greater understanding of regional issues, while building relationships with others who are equally passionate about their community. The program, founded in 1973, has graduated more than 1,600 professional alumni across the country.
Practicing law since 2010, Umbach practices corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and tax law, counseling clients that range in size from individuals navigating local markets to Fortune 100 companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenue on a wide range of business transactions, including entity formation, governance, restructuring, business planning, corporate divisions, mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations and divestitures.
Umbach currently serves as a South Carolina Bar, Tax Law Section Council Member, and as an active member of the taxation section for the American Bar Association.
Umbach received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University in 2011; earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of South Carolina in 2010; and earned his B.A. from Duke University in 2004.
