Adams and Reese is featured in the August 1 edition of the Birmingham Business Journal for being ranked among the “Healthiest Employers,” a recognition the law firm has received for the fifth consecutive year. In partnership with Healthiest Employers, the BBJ honored organizations with policies and initiatives promoting a healthy workplace, and also recognized them at an awards breakfast at the Health & Wellness Expo and Healthiest Employers Awards, held on July 31 at The Harbert Center.

The firm’s Birmingham office has a partnership with the YMCA where they waive the enrollment fee for employees. In addition to discounted gym memberships and routine health care clinics, Adams and Reese has focused on improving the wellness of its employees through installing an annual weight loss program, beginning in 2008, and most recently named “Start a Healthy Routine in 2014.” In the seven years of the program, more than 500 employees have dropped a collective total of more than 6,000 pounds.

Adams and Reese Birmingham office manager, Ramona Klinner, got the idea for the weight loss program from the firm’s health insurance provider, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

“The program was needed because we pride ourselves on being one of the Best Places to Work, and in gratitude for their hard work for us, we wanted to provide employees with wellness initiatives,” said David Bowsher, Adams and Reese Birmingham Office Partner in Charge. “Happy and healthy employees make productive employees.”

Companies were selected based on the results of a survey, which was conducted by Healthiest Employers.
