Adams and Reese is pleased to announce April Smith has been named Co-Chair of the Forest Resources Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (ABA SEER) for 2018–2019.

The Forest Resources Committee addresses virtually every issue that touches both private and public forest lands. Its members focus on legal, policy and practical issues relevant to owners, lenders, trade associations, managers, users, nonprofits and others who are interested in forest lands. As Co-Chair of the committee, Smith will work to develop resources surrounding legal, policy and economic developments relating to forest lands throughout the United States.

In her practice, Smith represents TIMOs, REITs, financial institutions, businesses and individuals in matters involving timberland and commercial property acquisitions and sales and timberland and commercial financing transactions. She has handled acquisitions and sales of timberlands from 20 acres to as much as 1.8 million acres and financings of credit facilities with timberland or commercial collateral ranging in size from $75,000 to more than $100 million. She also advocates for clients in litigation and arbitration regarding long-term timber lease conflicts.
