Adams and Reese Partner John Beach was featured in the South Carolina Bar’s Perspectives 2013-2014 Annual Report as he is pictured in the “Public Services” section and at the Bar’s “Ask-A-Lawyer” event where he volunteered to help provide pro bono services through a hot line.
With the assistance of volunteer lawyers, the Bar’s Public Services Division educates the public on common legal issues such as bankruptcy, divorce, wills and landlord/tenant disputes. These programs help members of the public with their legal needs and emphasize the positive role lawyers play in their communities.
In 2013, the Bar held nine Ask-A-Lawyer phone banks and web chats held in conjunction with television stations throughout the state, and during Pro Bono Week in October 2013, a total of 268 citizens had their legal questions addressed during an all-day statewide event.
Practicing law since 1982, Beach advises businesses in disputes and represents businesses in litigation arising out of contractual, regulatory, and property conflicts. Beach is a Certified South Carolina Circuit Court Mediator, since 2002.
In the community, Beach is a long-time supporter of Columbia’s Nickelodeon Theater, South Carolina’s only independent theatre. John helped with the Nick’s recent move to a prominent Main Street location, an important component of Columbia’s current downtown renaissance. He has also provided advice and guidance, through various committees and task forces, to help advance the recent development of Columbia’s central business district.
