Birmingham Of Counsel Richard Carmody recently participated in the Project Homeless Connect: Monthly Legal Help Desk, an initiative of the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program (BBVLP). Carmody and Davis were among six volunteer attorneys from Birmingham law firms helping homeless clients overcome legal issues so they can obtain identification, jobs and safe housing. The monthly BBVLP event takes place in the office of One Roof at Birmingham’s Cooper Green Mercy Health Services. One Roof is a nonprofit that coordinates services to end homelessness in central Alabama.
Among the attorneys’ services, Carmody and their fellow attorneys provided legal services to 15 clients during December’s Help Desk event, which proved to be a record-breaking day.
