The Adams and Reese Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Tampa offices held “Summer Briefs” HUGS fundraising drives to benefit Resurrection House, Clothes to Kids, and Guardians ad Litem, respectively.
The Tampa office organized a “Summer Briefs” HUGS drive for the Guardian Ad Litem program, collecting new socks and underwear to benefit the children of Bay Area County. In addition to the sock and underwear, money was also collected through a Jeans Day collection. Guardians ad Litem (GALs) are volunteers, who are appointed by the Court to advocate, speak up, for the best interest of a child who has been abused, neglected or abandoned. The majority of these children have been removed from their homes and placed with relatives or foster parents. In Hillsborough County, there are over 2,500 children in the dependency court system.
The St. Petersburg office organized a “Summer Briefs” HUGS drive for Clothes to Kids, collecting new socks and underwear to benefit the children of Pinellas County. In addition to the sock and underwear, money will also be collected on Aug 1st through a Jeans Day collection. The mission of Clothes to Kids is to provide a week’s worth new and quality used clothing to low-income or in crisis school-age children in Pinellas County, free of charge.
The Sarasota office organized a “Summer Briefs” HUGS drive for Resurrection House, collecting men’s and women’s pants, shirts, socks, shoes, undergarments, and belts. Resurrection House is a faith-based resource center committed to the alleviation of the suffering of the homeless by offering physical, emotional and spiritual help and by serving as a bridge from despair to dignity. Beginning its 24th year of operation, Resurrection House in Sarasota, Florida, does not accept funding from the city, county, state or federal government, and donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and religious groups form the core of the organization’s $500,000 operating budget.
The Adams and Reese employee volunteer program, also known as HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support), donates thousands of hours and untold dollars to offer communities “hands on” activities and assistance to those less fortunate. Whether in the form of special events or participation in agency-sponsored fundraisers, Adams and Reese employees and attorneys are known throughout the region and the nation for their community action.
