The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has named Mark R. Beebe, litigation partner based in Adams and Reese’s New Orleans office, as President for 2022-23. The appointment was announced at IADC’s 2022 Annual Meeting in Berlin, Germany on July 14. The IADC is the preeminent invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.
A member of the IADC since 2002, Beebe serves as the first Asian-American elected as president of the organization.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the IADC, an organization comprised of so many talented lawyers and distinguished leaders of the defense bar throughout the world,” said Beebe. “The IADC leadership team is motivated to continue the IADC’s advocacy for the rule of law, promotion of civil justice, and advancement of civil defense causes. As my presidency begins, there is great comfort knowing that I can count on the considerable talents of our many members to accomplish the association’s strategic initiatives, and I intend on devoting every effort of my mind and spirit to lead the IADC this upcoming year.”
Beebe has served with the organization’s board as liaison for regional meetings and as a member of the Think IADC First initiative, Under-45 Task Force, and several IADC committees, including Social Justice Pro Bono, Medical Defense, and Health Law, and Class Actions and Multi-Party Litigation. In addition, he has served on the organization’s Nominating, Membership, and Centennial committees. In 2011, he was a faculty member of the IADC’s Trial Academy. As a member of the IADC Foundation Board from 2013 to 2019, he held the positions of Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he revamped the IADC’s regional meetings to a virtual format to advance the organization’s goal of delivering added value to members.
In his litigation practice, Beebe counsels clients in a variety of business and commercial matters, including antitrust, trade secret protection, securities litigation, officers and directors’ duties and responsibilities, corporate governance, contractual interpretation and enforcement, warranty obligations, banking, and intellectual property matters. He represents clients at trial in courts throughout the country and in multi-district and class action litigation. He leads Adams and Reese’s emerging practice areas initiative and previously served on the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as a Litigation Practice Group leader, Business Litigation Team leader, Chair of the Recruiting Committee, the Associate Liaison, and Associate Claims Counsel.

In addition to the IADC and the Foundation of the International Association of Defense Counsel, Mr. Beebe is a member of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and serves on the board of DRI and the Board of Lawyers of Lawyers for Civil Justice.
Mr. Beebe received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University.
