Education attorney Jim Keith has been named Chair of the National School Boards Association's (NSBA) Council of School Attorneys (COSA). In this role, Jim will serve as a non-voting member of the Board of Trustees of the NSBA.

COSA supports school attorneys in their representation of public school boards by providing leadership in legal advocacy for public schools, providing a national forum to discuss legal issues and problems school attorneys encounter in providing legal counsel, advice and representation to school boards and school boards associations. Today, COSA provides information and practical assistance to more than 3,000 attorneys representing K-12 public school districts and state school boards associations.

At Adams and Reese, Keith is leading member of the law firm's Education Team. He advises clients in the areas of employment, education and administrative law. A focus of his practice involves the representation of educational entities, including school districts, community colleges and universities.

Keith has advised school districts on employee matters, student issues, board/administration interaction, and education of students with disabilities. He has handled these matters in administrative hearings and in state and federal court. He has advised universities and colleges on issues involving student rights as well as on employment matters.

Keith has represented employers in all areas of employment law, litigation and administrative proceedings, with extensive experience in discrimination cases of all types, including race, sex, age, religion and disability. He has advised on wage/hour litigation and represented employers before administrative agencies, state trial and appellate courts, and federal trial and appellate courts.

Keith has authored several special education articles and has contributed to national publications involving the education of students with disabilities.
