As part of his role as Law Day 2019 Chair, Lucian Pera delivered remarks at the Law Day celebrations at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, May 1. Lucian opened the Leon Jaworski Public Program Series, a discussion titled "The Marketplace of Ideas in an Era of Fake News," noting the significance of the program's setting given this year's Law Day theme, "Free Press, Free Speech, Free Society."

Leading up to the event, Lucian was quoted in a story in the ABA Journal about this year's celebration and theme. "The central position that our rights of free speech and free press play not just in our everyday life, but in the way our country works and the way the rule of law works. If you do away with the rights of free speech and free press, the whole system is at risk," said Lucian in the article.
