Curved Modern Wooden Spiral Staircase

For nearly two decades, Adams & Reese has ranked among the nation's top 100 law firms for pro bono service, including its most recent ranking in the ALM/Law.com 2026 Pro Bono Scorecard: National Report. The recognition reflects the firm's longstanding commitment to expanding access to justice and serving individuals and communities in need.

Published each July, the Pro Bono Scorecard is a leading measure of pro bono service among Am Law 200 firms. The report tracks average pro bono hours per lawyer and the percentage of attorneys who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work. With over 100 firms ranked in the 2026 Scorecard, attorneys reported 5.01 million pro bono hours in 2025. U.S. lawyers averaged 54.1 hours, and 49.2% recorded at least 20 hours of pro bono service.

Adams & Reese ranked No. 98 on the Scorecard with a Pro Bono Score of 22.7. The firm averaged 18.5 pro bono hours per attorney, and 26.8% of its attorneys recorded more than 20 pro bono hours. Its continued recognition in the top 100 demonstrates a consistent, firmwide commitment that extends beyond any single year's results.

“For us, pro bono is not a campaign; it is a calling. Nineteen years on this list tells you something about who we are,” said Todd Engelhardt, Birmingham Office Partner in Charge and Pro Bono Committee Chair at Adams & Reese. “Our attorneys do not do pro bono work for recognition. We do it because serving our communities is a core part of practicing law at Adams & Reese, and that conviction only grows stronger with time.”

The firm's official pro bono program CA&RE, Caring Adams & Reese Employees, coordinates service opportunities across every Adams & Reese office nationwide. The program is guided by the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, which connects its lawyers with bar associations, legal aid organizations, and community partners to deliver pro bono counsel where it is needed most. With Engelhardt as chair, the committee includes volunteer attorneys from across the Adams & Reese footprint: Atlanta Counsel Tim Veith; Baton Rouge Partner Bill Shea; Columbia Partner Lyndey Bryant; Jackson Partner Tim Anzenberger; Jacksonville Partner Angela Grewal; Mobile Partner Scott Hetrick; Nashville Partner Joshua Cumby; New Orleans Partner Timothy Brinks; Sarasota Partner Ryan Owen; Tampa Partners Cassandra Walsh and Eric Partlow; and Washington, D.C. Partner Matt Paxton. Together, their work reflects the firm's enduring commitment to making legal services more accessible in the communities it serves.
