Gif Thornton Named to 2026 Lawdragon 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know

Lawdragon's prestigious annual recognition highlights 100 managing partners from across the country who are shaping the future of the legal profession through exceptional vision, leadership, and stewardship. Thornton's inclusion on this distinguished list reflects his significant contributions to Adams & Reese's sustained growth and success.
As Managing Partner, Thornton has guided Adams & Reese through a period of substantial growth, spearheading geographic expansion into the Carolinas, Florida, and Colorado while strengthening key practices in Construction Law, Financial Services, Intellectual Property, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Government Advocacy. Under his leadership, Adams & Reese saw in 2025 an 18.47% increase in Gross Revenue from $157MM to $186MM, and an 8.94% increase in Profits Per Equity Partner (PPEP) from $772,000 to $841,000. Today, Adams & Reese operates offices in 10 states and the District of Columbia with 350 attorneys and government relations advisors serving clients across the globe.
In addition, Thornton's decisive management during the COVID-19 pandemic, including an early and successful return to in-person work in May 2020, helped the firm avoid layoffs and furloughs while preserving its culture. That momentum has continued through 2025 and into 2026, marked by the addition of high-profile laterals from McGlinchey Stafford and other leading firms. His strategic vision has been featured prominently in publications such as ALM/Law.com and The American Lawyer.
