Adams & Reese Managing Partner Gif Thornton spoke with Law360 on Adams & Reese's 75th anniversary, its continued growth, and the lessons that have sustained the firm since its founding in New Orleans in 1951.

Adams & Reese is coming off its best year of performance ever, with over 300 attorneys across 20 offices primarily in the Southeast. Thornton discussed the firm's collaborative culture as a key differentiator, noting that partners trust each other with clients and projects across geographic boundaries, a practice the firm embraced long before the rise of remote collaboration tools.

On the competitive landscape for mid-size and regional firms, Thornton highlighted the opportunity presented by accelerating rate increases at Am Law 50 firms, positioning Adams & Reese to offer a compelling value proposition to clients seeking high-quality work at more competitive rates.

Looking ahead, Thornton emphasized that the firm's longevity is rooted in embracing change, staying "humble and hungry," and a commitment to leadership succession planning, ensuring the next generation of leaders is always prepared to carry the firm forward. As Thornton reflected, "I think we have learned to celebrate our successes, but stay humble and stay hungry, and be conscious that we need to change, evolve, advance in order to compete successfully."
