Overview
Aukse Joiner provides Adams & Reese clients with a broad range of corporate services, ranging from entity formation to contracts and dispute resolution. She has a deep understanding of the nuances of equity transactions, financing and refinancing, and mergers and acquisitions. Closing a transaction entails many moving parts and timelines, and Aukse strives to guide each client and project to conclusion on their terms — always with the objective of efficiently and cost-effectively achieving the client’s objectives.
As a commercial real estate and corporate attorney, Aukse has represented and counseled landlords, tenants, buyers, and sellers in the retail, financial, hospitality, and office space sectors, overseeing large, high-profile commercial real estate transactions and advising on general commercial and regulatory matters. She has closed transactions with developers, established homeowners and condominium associations, and worked in land use and zoning for the city of Chicago. As a litigator, her clients have spanned HOAs and condo associations, institutional lenders, and various parties in title disputes.
By developing a deep knowledge of local jurisdictions’ laws related to any transaction her client is involved in, Aukse provides the kind of due diligence needed to navigate issues and assess risk. Clients appreciate her attention to the kinds of details within corporate, financial, and transaction documents that can determine the success of a deal. As a result, she has been trusted with closing 50-site and larger transactions, and managing a $500 million, multi-stage real estate portfolio.
Because Aukse is an experienced litigator as well as a transaction attorney, she brings a valuable perspective on how transactions can devolve into litigation and how courts may respond to specifics within a contract or deal. This background helps her guide clients to decisions that avoid litigation.
In addition to Aukse’s J.D. from the University of California at San Diego, she holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Tulane University/Humboldt University, Berlin.
