Overview
Jane Haas represents corporate clients in litigation across a broad range of local, state, national, and international industries, including construction, architecture and engineering, hospitality (hotels/restaurants), retail, manufacturing, distribution, products, personal injury, property management and ownership, insurance, and energy/oil and gas.
Jane has tried several cases to verdict as a first chair and second chair counsel. She has close to 25 years of trial and arbitration experience, including 15 years as a Partner at Houston law firms LeClair Ryan and Hartline Barger.
Jane’s diverse litigation practice ranges from defending design professionals and construction industry companies against allegations of property damage and/or personal injury claims to managing and running a large personal injury docket for internationally known food chains and national retail stores. Her experience also includes obtaining jury verdicts in breach of contract, products liability, nuisance, premises liability, and deceptive trade practice liability cases.
Jane has authored articles and presented CLEs and seminars for clients, bar associations, and industry trade organizations on topics including construction defect cases, worker’s compensation issues, contract indemnification language, Deceptive Trade Practices Act, general personal injury claims, and insurance code violations.
Throughout her legal career Jane has valued mentorship. At her former law firm, she was in an associate liaison leadership position, providing guidance to new attorneys to assist them in achieving their career goals. She also participated in the summer clerkship program and on-campus interviews for first-year associate positions.
Jane is committed to giving back to both the legal profession and the Houston community. Jane has served as a board member of Texas Association of Defense Counsel; has been a member of the Construction Law section member of the Houston Bar Association; Hospitality and Retail section member of the Defense Research Institute; former attorney council vice chair of the National Chapter of American Subcontractors Association; and former member of the American Subcontractors Association, Houston Chapter government advocacy and membership committees. In the community, she is a former board member of Alternatives in Motion (AIM) Adoptions, and an active supporter and volunteer for Houston SPCA and Houston Food Bank.
