Our clients retain our team for many reasons, but our industry-specific capabilities, customized approach and experience with judges and specific types of litigation in tough jurisdictions top the list.

Members of our Financial Services Litigation Team rely on the firm’s bench strength to build teams of attorneys from across the firm to advise on industry-specific matters. For example, if a complex case involves a highly specific area of the law, we are accustomed to adding a lawyer with that experience to help with that case, no matter which of our offices they practice from.

While we can deploy aggressive litigation tactics when necessary, we know when to use a more diplomatic approach. Our litigators are flexible and sensitive to the approach our clients wish to take individually, depending on their goals and the style they prefer we adopt in the courtroom.

Our clients also recognize that we have litigated a diverse range of intricate, high-stakes cases in the courtroom and on appeal.

Our litigation team is subdivided into the following three areas:

  • Commercial Litigation: We try high-profile, multimillion-dollar cases for clients throughout the United States, including class action and multidistrict litigation. Drawing upon our experience and familiarity the various courts and governmental agencies, we are known for our experience in large, complex matters as well as smaller disputes.
  • Consumer Financial Services Litigation: We help clients with mortgage litigation and consumer financial litigation involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Lending Act (FLA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other statutory and regulatory laws and rules.
  • Estate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation: We provide knowledgeable counsel to fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and others on all aspects of estate, trust and fiduciary litigation, including estate and trust disputes and actions focused on alleged breaches of fiduciary duties.

Summary

We know that when banks and financial institutions become involved in litigation, it significantly interferes with their day-to-day operations. Thanks to our understanding of the litigation landscape, we can quickly assemble a customized team of attorneys with the right kind of regulatory knowledge, business litigation experience and appellate experience for each client’s unique situation. We mobilize quickly, aiming to effectively and efficiently resolve disputes so our clients return to what they do best — run their institutions and serve their customers.

Our attorneys have tried and litigated high-profile, multimillion-dollar and multijurisdictional cases throughout the United States. We know the judges and court officials in the courts in which we routinely appear. Our team members are also familiar with policymakers and regulators in governmental agencies, enhancing our ability to represent large sophisticated financial institutions and mid-market and community banks in matters ranging from small matters to complex cases.

When we get a case, we immediately review it and build a team by matching the right attorneys with the right experience and skillsets across our footprint. This allows us to streamline the entire litigation process to provide timely and efficient counsel.
