Adams & Reese Partner Ashlee Poplin will appear on a RoofersCoffeeShop podcast to discuss “Legal Must-Knows for Roofers.” The Read Listen Watch (RLW) podcast will air on Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. central.

RoofersCoffeeShop is a news source for roofing contractors and employers in the construction industry. Poplin will join RCC host Karen Edwards to discuss the legal aspects of starting and running a roofing business, including:

• Choosing the best legal structure (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp) and understanding its impact on taxes and liability;
• Navigating the necessary licenses and permits required across different states;
• How to minimize insurance costs while ensuring adequate coverage;
• Risks of operating without liability insurance; and
• Managing cash flow and enforcing payment from customers.

At Adams & Reese, Poplin practices primarily in litigation and construction law. She advises clients on workplace health and safety issues and matters related to contract review, drafting and litigation, lien law, bond law, insurance, mediation, arbitration and all other aspects of litigation.

Poplin is licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Utah, and she serves as General Counsel for National Women in Roofing. She is actively engaged with the Charlotte Chapter of National Association of Women in Construction and serves as the communications chair on the Charlotte Council for National Women in Roofing.
