Lucian Pera will moderate a breakout session, "Litigation Financing," at the ABA's 45th National Conference on Professional Responsibility, May 29–31 at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, Canada. While litigation financing is a hot topic in the world of professional responsibility, it remains an enigma for many observers. Lucian will lead panelists through a discussion on the basic ethical and legal background on litigation finance, exploring various financing structures and discussing the current state of the market. The discussion will also review the New York City Bar Association's Formal Opinion 2018-5 and provide an update of case law on the discoverability of the funding documentation.
