Lucian Pera moderated a panel discussion on lawyer speech about court proceedings, "Covering the Courthouse — What Lawyers Can and Cannot, and Will or Won’t Tell You About Cases and Why," at the Tennessee Bar Association's inaugural Reporters Workshop, May 17–18 in Nashville.

A dozen journalists participated in the workshop, which helped them gain a deeper understanding of media law issues that may affect their work.

Presented by the Tennessee Bar Association, its Communications Law Section and the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, the programming included sessions on political broadcasting law, access to public records and meetings, defamation and invasion of privacy, how to cover the courts and what lawyers can and cannot tell you about their cases and why.
