(JACKSON, Miss.) – Adams & Reese is pleased to announce that Wade Sweat has joined the national law firm’s Jackson office as Counsel and as a member of the Litigation Practice Group.

A former L&E Counsel for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Wade primarily focuses his practice on labor and employment law and representation of sureties in all aspects of the claim process. Wade has more than 30 years of trial and appellate practice experience, serving clients in both the private sector and in the public sector.

“Wade’s impressive résumé as legal counsel at the highest levels of federal and state government agencies, combined with his three decades as a litigator and an appellate lawyer also in the private sector, bring invaluable depth to our firm. We are honored to welcome Wade to our Jackson office,” said Austin Stewart, Adams & Reese Litigation Partner and Jackson Office Partner in Charge. “Wade’s experience is a significant benefit for not only our clients across the state of Mississippi, but also across our firm’s national footprint.”

Wade is licensed to practice in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. His employment law experience includes Title VII discrimination and retaliation matters of all types, FMLA, ADA and ADEA and other employment-related litigation. He counsels clients on employment practices policies, risk management techniques, and loss prevention. He also has experience handling products liability, commercial litigation, and insurance litigation.

“It was an honor to assist the VA and its great mission and work with such a talented team of mentors and colleagues whose support, collaboration, and friendship helped shape me personally and professionally,” said Wade. “As I take this next step, I’m looking forward to new challenges, deepening my practice in labor and employment law and continuing to advocate for my clients with the same passion and commitment now that I am at Adams & Reese.”

Wade earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law (1994), and he received his B.B.A. from Mississippi State University (1989).
