Adams and Reese is pleased to announce that Edward H. L. Playfair has been appointed the Partner in Charge of the firm’s Nashville office by Managing Partner Gif Thornton. The firm has a Partner in Charge in each of its offices throughout the southern United States and Washington, D.C.
Playfair, who also serves as the firm’s Intellectual Property Team Leader, serves clients’ intellectual property needs across the nation and around the world. He counsels on transactional, enforcement, and monetization matters.
Playfair joined Adams and Reese in 2009 and has extensive experience in the areas of United States and international trademarks, brand protection, e-commerce, and franchising. Born in Australia and raised in the United Kingdom, Playfair brings an international perspective to global intellectual property matters. He previously practiced international law in the United Kingdom and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
In his law practice, Playfair draws upon his business career, having served as an independent consultant to The Coca-Cola Company on sponsorship and brand promotion initiatives at the XIX Olympic Winter Games, Salt Lake City 2002, and at The Masters golf tournament. He also worked as an appraiser and then-youngest auctioneer at Sotheby’s, specializing in the fields of sports antiques and military medals.
A 1995 M.A. graduate of the University of St. Andrews, Playfair received both his G.D.L. in 2004 and his L.P.C. in 2005 from the University of the West of England.
