Adams and Reese is pleased to announce that Kellen J. Mathews has been appointed the Partner in Charge of the firm’s Baton Rouge office by Managing Partner Gif Thornton, effective June 1, 2018. The firm has 17 Partners in Charge in its 18 offices throughout the southern United States and Washington, D.C.

Mathews joined Adams and Reese in 2012 and is a partner in the firm’s litigation practice group. His practice includes representing clients in complex litigation, products liability, education, construction, commercial and personal injury claims. Mathews has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in the 2017 and 2018 editions of Louisiana Super Lawyers (by Thomson Reuters), and is listed in the 2018 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® (by BL Rankings, LLC).

Mathews has been active within the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), participating in the Leadership LSBA program, then serving as an at-large member of the LSBA Young Lawyers Division Council and Chair of the LSBA Young Lawyers Division Diversity Committee and member of the LSBA Diversity Committee.

In the community, Mathews is a member of Executive Committee of the Board of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, which assists more than 130 charitable agencies in Baton Rouge and 11 surrounding parishes in feeding the area’s residents. He also serves on the associate board of City Year Baton Rouge and, since 2015, he has served as a member of the host committee for City Year Baton Rouge’s signature fundraising event, the School House Rock Gala. Mathews is a member of the 2018 class of Council for a Better Louisiana’s Leadership Louisiana program.

Mathews received his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, in 2008, where he was selected to the Chancellor’s List for spring 2006. In 2004, he earned his B.A. in political science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
