The practice of law is a craft and an art. It should be approached holistically with integrity, purpose, resourcefulness, grit, tenacity, and class. People of all backgrounds and statuses deserve competent, skilled lawyers who are committed to being their voice, their staunch advocate. I look forward to being that for my clients.

Alissa Caña is a member of the Adams and Reese Litigation Practice, assisting the group’s attorneys in the representation of clients across a wide range of industries.

Before coming to Adams and Reese, Alissa gained experience in a variety of different practice areas including commercial litigation. Alissa clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office – Southern District of Texas, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and several law firms. Through her clerkships, Alissa gained experience in researching and drafting legal memoranda and pre-trial motions, and preparing for hearings, trial, and appellate oral arguments.

Alissa earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston (“STCL”), where she graduated magna cum laude. While there, she served as Vice President of STCL’s chapter of Phi Delta Phi, an international honor society. As a member of STCL’s nationally acclaimed advocacy team, she competed in several national moot court competitions as an oralist. She earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, given to the highest scoring student in each law school class, in her Texas Pre-Trial Civil Procedure and Texas Trial & Appellate Civil Procedure classes.

Alissa received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Houston (“UH”). In her time at UH, she served in various leadership and social positions, including Membership Chair for the UH chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and a drummer with the UH Basketball Band and other student organizations. She also volunteered as a mentor with the Mentoring for at Risk Youth Program and at The Forge for Families, a community center in Houston’s Third Ward community.

In addition to her legal experience, Alissa has interned for several major U.S. companies including Hewlett Packard Enterprise as a Global Supply Chain Intern, and with The Boeing Company and BAE Systems as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern. Her diverse background has provided her with unique insights into many different fields and practice areas.
