DeMeo Moderates ABA Webinar on PFAS in Construction
Event Date: Aug 19, 2026
Adams & Reese Tallahassee Counsel Ralph DeMeo is moderating the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law webinar "The Resistance: PolyFluoroAlkyl Substances (PFAS).” The distance learning program, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM ET, will cover the growing impact of PFAS on the construction industry, including contamination risks, regulatory developments, and liability considerations for project owners and contractors.
DeMeo will lead a multidisciplinary panel of industry professionals, in-house legal teams, and outside construction counsel who are deeply involved in addressing this complex environmental challenge. The discussion will examine how PFAS, commonly referred to as "forever chemicals," infiltrated the construction industry, where these substances are found, and the mechanisms by which they migrate into the surrounding environment and affect human health.
The ABA will seek 1.50 General CLE credit hours in 60-minute states, and 1.80 General CLE credit hours in 50-minute states. DeMeo is joined by Megan Baroni of Robinson & Cole LLP and Sylvia Deye, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, of Robson Forensic.
DeMeo practices environmental, land use, and administrative law within the firm's Intersection of Business & Government Practice Group, representing businesses, landowners, and government entities in state and federal courts, before regulatory agencies, and through legislative initiatives across Florida and nationally. His experience spans Superfund/CERCLA, RCRA, CWA/NPDES, power plants, solar energy, agricultural lands, and other contaminated properties. A frequent lecturer with more than 35 published articles, he is a former chair of The Florida Bar Environmental and Land Use Law Section and former Managing Editor of the ELULS Treatise on Environmental and Land Use Law.
