Adams and Reese New Orleans Partner Lauren L. Tafaro has been named a finalist for the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel’s (LADC) 2016 Frank L. Maraist Award. The award recognizes young lawyers who have made outstanding achievements in their legal practice and exemplary contributions to the legal profession, the defense bar and the community. Tafaro will be honored at the LADC Young Lawyer Awards and Board Dinner August 25th at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans.
Now in its second year, the LADC Frank L. Maraist Award is named for Professor Emeritus Frank L. Maraist, a celebrated former Louisiana State University Law Center professor and current LADC Executive Director Emeritus. The award, given on behalf of the LADC Young Lawyers Committee, recognizes a young attorney’s professional excellence and service to the legal profession and bar as well as his or her commitment to pro bono work and community service.
At Adams and Reese, Tafaro is a partner on the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Team. She has a diverse practice background that includes insurance defense, toxic tort and personal injury litigation matters. Her labor and employment practice focuses primarily on insured employment claims. Tafaro also serves on the firm’s Recruiting Committee.
In the community, Tafaro serves on the Board of Directors for Raintree Children and Family Services, a multiservice nonprofit organization assisting at-risk children and youth in the Greater New Orleans area since 1926. Through the years, she has also volunteered with the New Orleans Pro Bono Project and Louisiana Appleseed. She is a member of the New Orleans and Federal Bar Associations along with the American Bar Association. She is also active in the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), and the LADC.
