Adams and Reese sponsored and hosted an educational lunch presentation for college students from the Houston Association of Legal Administrators Diverse Scholars Program.

The program is geared towards college students who may not be aware of the work done behind the scenes in law firms to support attorneys.

Deon Wells, Adams and Reese Desktop Support Specialist, presented “I.T. - What Can We Do For You,” as Houston office staff attended the event to discuss professional careers at law firms.

The Houston ALA is one of the oldest chapters of The Association of Legal Administrators, an international organization representing law firms and corporate legal departments.

Adams and Reese supports the program through its continuous DEI initiatives, which include pipeline programs, partnerships, and events that educate students, from high school to law school, about legal career opportunities.

Adams and Reese’s DEI programs include the NALP/Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline, ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship, Memphis Bar Association Summer Law Internship, AdvanceLaw Diversity Mentorship, AR ARROW (Advancement, Recruitment, and Retention of Women), and DAAP (Diverse Attorney Advancement and Promotion). Adams and Reese participates in the Southeastern Minority Job Fair, recruits annually from HBCUs, and engages in multiple diverse recruiting programs throughout its footprint.

Adams and Reese has been recently recognized for these DEI efforts, receiving the “Diversity Initiative” award at the 2023 Southeastern Legal Awards, and earning a 2023 Minority Corporate Counsel Approved SILVER Seal.

In 2022, Adams and Reese became a Mansfield Rule-Certified Law Firm, reflecting not only the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, but recognizing its concrete achievements in closing diversity gaps within its own leadership and, by extension, in the legal profession.

Adams and Reese has seven decades of minority leadership that continues today. Adams and Reese formed a diversity committee in the 1980s, and for more than 40 years, the firm’s DEI efforts have centered around a diverse team of professionals providing representation to our clients that resembles the diversity of their businesses, executives, and their communities in which they work and live.
