Adams and Reese Partner Bill Shea has been elected Board President of Louisiana Appleseed, a nonprofit social justice and advocacy organization dedicated to solving the state’s toughest legal problems at the root causes by creating access to justice, opportunity, and education.
Shea has been a board member of Louisiana Appleseed since 2017.
Louisiana Appleseed is part of the National Appleseed network of public interest law centers. Adams and Reese has had a longtime relationship with Louisiana Appleseed, National Appleseed, and its network of regional social justice centers delivering pro bono services to those in need and in promoting systemic change in Louisiana.
At Adams and Reese, Shea focuses his practice on insurance regulatory and administrative law, in addition to commercial litigation. He is one of only seven lawyers in Louisiana rated by Chambers USA in the area of insurance. He has also been recognized in the area of insurance law by Best Lawyers, and has further recognition from Super Lawyers. Shea is the former Partner in Charge of the Adams and Reese Baton Rouge office.
In the Baton Rouge community, Shea is a board member of the Baton Rouge Chamber and served as its General Counsel in 2016. He is a 2015 graduate of the Leadership Louisiana program of Council for a Better Louisiana. He previously served on the board of the Baton Rouge Symphony and the Country Club of Louisiana. In addition, he is a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Shea earned his J.D. from Southern University Law Center. He received his undergraduate degree in Business from Southeastern Louisiana University. After college, Bill worked for a national property and casualty insurance company for several years before attending law school.
