Overview
Drew counsels clients across the entertainment and media industries, helping them navigate the unique legal challenges these sectors present. He has been involved in high-profile matters for prominent artists and entertainers, including the landmark “Blurred Lines” copyright case on behalf of Marvin Gaye’s family, and has litigated against Pandora Media on behalf of nine stand-up comedians. He has also appeared pro hac vice in state and federal courts across multiple jurisdictions.
Drew is experienced at handling large civil litigation matters, including first-chair experience defending against the U.S. Department of Labor in a federal case involving over 129 workers. He has also served as in-house counsel at Warner Music Group, where he managed pre-litigation claims, protected the company's intellectual property portfolio, and gained deep insight into the business priorities and day-to-day legal needs of creative enterprises. That combination of courtroom advocacy and business-side fluency allows him to deliver practical, results-oriented legal guidance tailored to each client's needs.
Drew earned his J.D. from Belmont University College of Law, where he was a member of the Entertainment Law Society and earned the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Certificate. He holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. Drew is licensed to practice in all state courts of Tennessee and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, as well as the Courts of Appeal for the Second, Sixth, and Ninth Circuits.
