Overview

Caroline Murphy is a business advisor and commercial litigator. As a member of the Adams & Reese Litigation Practice Group, Caroline advises and represents clients in resolving a wide range of commercial disputes.

Caroline has amassed significant practical experience as a law clerk and summer associate for multiple firms, as well as her externship in U.S. District Court. Her experience includes construction and complex contract disputes, employment litigation, products liability defense, public finance matters, healthcare litigation, and more.

Caroline also brings direct industry experience, having worked for both a commercial construction company – reviewing contracts and compliance on job sites – and a major insurance company. Finally, her externship with Judge Sherri Lydon of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina gave Caroline a broader view of complex litigation matters, providing her with the perspective she offers to clients today.

While studying at the University of South Carolina School of Law, Caroline served as Managing Editor of the South Carolina Law Review and contributed an article on South Carolina’s ban on the direct sale of electric vehicles. Caroline earned the CALI award in Trial Advocacy. She also worked as a research assistant and legal writing tutor. She served as President and Vice-President, respectively, for the Christian Legal Society and Women in Law, and as a legislative representative for the Student Bar Association. Caroline also participated as a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court and the USC School of Law Pro Bono board. Caroline received the law school’s Bronze Compleat Lawyer Award in 2025 for outstanding civic and professional accomplishments.
