Overview

Claire Heflin is an Associate in the Nashville office and a member of the Corporate Services Practice Group, concentrating her practice in various areas of intellectual property law. Claire protects and helps her clients leverage their IP by, among other things, registering and defending their trademarks, trade dress, and copyrights for their work. She is also engaged in important anti-counterfeiting operations on behalf of her clients, who range from multinational corporations to respected artists and beyond.

As a Nashville native, Claire is especially sensitive to the need to protect the creative efforts of musicians and songwriters in “Music City." An experienced litigator and no stranger to the courthouse, Claire understands that IP is often the lifeblood of a client’s business and is prepared to resolve their disputes by whatever approach best promotes their interests. She prides herself on her ability to guide clients smoothly through complex areas of law.

Prior to joining Adams & Reese, Claire’s experience includes litigating intellectual property and other matters for a Nashville law firm and serving, while in law school, as an intern and summer associate gaining both litigation experience and drafting agreements for a global music company, supporting creators through various rights management strategies.

While studying law at the University of Tennessee, Claire received the prestigious CALI Award for Legal Process and Trademark Law as well as receiving the Merchant and Gould Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property (a faculty-nominated award). She was also a member of Law Women and participated in the University of Tennessee’s Transactional Law Clinic, where she worked pro bono to assist clients with copyright and trademark applications as well as assisting artists seeking to sell their artwork online.

In the Nashville community, Claire is dedicated to her pro bono service in assisting songwriters with various music publishing and copyright needs.
