Douglas “Doug” L. McCoy

Doug McCoy is a seasoned trial attorney with over four decades of commercial litigation experience representing businesses and individuals in high-stakes disputes across a broad range of industries. His practice focuses on delivering strategic, results-driven legal counsel across diverse areas of law, including intellectual property and non-compete disputes, financing and leasing transactions, contract disputes, cybersecurity breach claims, real estate matters, securities litigation, corporate control disputes, class action disputes, estate litigation, commercial fraud and tort claims, product liability, and construction-related litigation.

Doug is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Alabama Supreme Court, as well as before the United States Circuit Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama. He has extensive courtroom experience and has argued before several federal appellate courts and the Alabama Supreme Court, and litigated in federal and state courts throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and in New York.

A well-respected thought leader in litigation practice and trial procedure, Doug has presented ABA Section of Litigation Programs on topics ranging from witness preparation and deposition strategy to associate mentoring and professional development. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a past leader within the ABA Section of Litigation, having co-chaired its Business Torts, Trial Practice, and Consumer and Civil Rights Litigation Committees. He also holds Martindale-Hubbell's highest AV rating and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation, Banking and Finance, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Trusts and Estates Litigation.

Doug earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.S. in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee.
