Overview
Jalen Stubblefield focuses his practice on construction litigation, real estate disputes, and bankruptcy-related matters throughout Florida. His clients include general contractors, building and property owners, property management companies, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in such claims involving breach of contract, payment disputes, and delay disputes. Jalen also helps guide clients through complex bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters, working with banks and financial institutions, commercial landlords, leasing entities, and other creditors.
Jalen has worked on complex cases, including representing one of Florida’s largest home builders, and assisted in an emergency bankruptcy case. He frequently engages in pre-trial practice, such as taking depositions and participating in settlement negotiations, and assisting with mediations and arbitration hearings. Given Jalen’s keen interest in appellate law, he has gained valuable experience researching appellate legal issues, notably one regarding binding arbitration.
Before joining the firm, Jalen served as a legal intern for the Honorable Jared Smith in Florida’s Sixth District Court of Appeal, where he researched and drafted memos on a variety of legal issues, including sentencing-related matters. He also interned for Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, where he served as a constituent advocate for both individuals and businesses.
Jalen firmly believes two of his key strengths as an attorney are his ability to communicate effectively and work with people at any level, from clients who may be under severe stress to jurors who need clear explanations and judges presiding over complex matters.
At Stetson University College of Law, Jalen was honored with teaching assistantships for multiple professors, served as Notes and Comment Editor for the Stetson Law Review, Captain of the Dispute Resolution Board, Pro Bono Committee Chair, Vice President of the Federalist Society, and President of the Christian Legal Society. As an undergraduate history student at George Mason University, he was a member of the Pre-Law Honor Society. As a former full-time instructional assistant and substitute teacher for Alexandria, Virginia City Public Schools, Jalen learned how to meet people where they are, answer questions fully and directly, and be both patient and empathetic, all abilities that translate directly to the practice of law.
