Overview
Jaylen Wilbon advises and represents clients in industries ranging from construction to healthcare, financial services, and beyond. He handles a wide array of commercial litigation, including many types of contract disputes, consumer financial matters, and products liability. In the arena of labor and employment litigation, Jaylen defends against claims such as discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and more.
His defense of construction claims may include representing public agencies, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors and property owners in construction defects matters, bid protests, payment disputes, delay claims, and lien and bond claims.
Jaylen gained much of his initial experience via the clerkships, internships, and externships he engaged in during law school. He was given the opportunity to participate in the trial process from initial pleadings through appeals and from multiple perspectives. At Adams & Reese he drafted jury instructions, summary judgment motions, answers to complaints, deposition outlines, and more. He also conducted extensive media and libel law research and updated the 2023-2024 Media Libel Law Survey. As a judicial intern for the Honorable Christy Comstock of the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, Jaylen prepared memoranda regarding pretrial motions in limine and court opinions. And as an intern with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, he assisted with arraignments, discovery, evidentiary matters, hearings, and trials, as well as analyzing criminal charges within the Special Victim’s Unit. On the corporate side, as legal extern for the Walmart Tax Department, Jaylen drafted memoranda and briefs supporting various company tax positions.
Jaylen’s understanding of business operations, especially in the financial services arena, was enhanced through his role as an Investment Research Analyst with Ameriprise Financial, where he responded to service requests, conducted both pre-meeting and post-meeting triage, proposed investment recommendations and asset allocation models, and executed trades.
A graduate from The University of Arkansas School of Law, Jaylen was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship, the Razorback Award, and the Waterman Memorial Award, and was honored as the 2025 commencement speaker. He was a member of the Student Bar Association, student representative to the American Bar Association, and an associate member of the Board of Advocates, vice-president of the Black Law Students Association, member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. Jaylen competed in the 2023 William H. Sutton Barrister’s Union Trial Competition, the 2025 Tulane Professional Basketball Negotiations Competition, and was a finalist in the 2025 University of Arkansas Board of Advocates Negotiations Competition.
As an undergraduate, Jaylen played Division I baseball at the University of Memphis, an experience that, he believes, instilled in him a whatever-it-takes dedication to the team—an approach that serves him and his clients well today. Jaylen also credits his athletic background with teaching him the importance of adaptability, a quality he finds essential in the practice of law, especially litigation.
