Kate Mills has a diverse litigation practice, representing corporate clients across multiple industries throughout South Carolina. Her litigation work covers a broad spectrum of legal issues involving commercial disputes, and she advocates for clients at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts.

Kate has experience in all phases of the litigation process, developing litigation plans, drafting initial pleadings, providing case valuations, analyzing case discovery targets, attending depositions, mediations, and drafting summaries of the proceedings.

Kate was a judicial law clerk for The Hon. John W. Kittredge, Supreme Court of South Carolina, and The Hon. Robert E. Hood, Fifth Judicial Circuit. She formerly interned for The Hon. Mary Geiger Lewis, U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. She was a legal extern for the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General.

Kate received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. A member of the Dean’s List, Kate received a CALI award in Regulation of Vice, and she was a recipient of the Victor A. Michalewitz Award for Excellence in Legal Writing. She was the Student Works Editor for the South Carolina Law Review, which awarded her the Ace of Spades Award. Kate was a peer mentor and participated in Women in Law and the Student Bar Association.

Earning her Bachelor of Arts in History from Sewanee: The University of the South, Kate graduated magna cum laude. Kate participated in Order of the Gownsmen, Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Epsilon Sorority (Co-President, House Manager, Social Chair, and Historian). She was a member of the varsity softball team and a radio show host of the college’s radio station, WUTS. Kate studied abroad in New Zealand, England, France, and Germany.

Kate is committed to volunteer work, through both pro bono and community service. While in law school, she was a student attorney for the Veterans Legal Clinic, and she served Guardian Ad Litem for the Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates.
