Properly managing litigation is an attribute of highly accomplished and prosperous businesses. For my clients, I manage their litigation and potential disputes. A lawsuit is rarely welcomed, and businesses know that significant disruption can result from litigation, even if it is not a “bet-the-company” suit. Thus, I take the time, on my own dime, to know your business and my comprehension has to span beyond the issue du jour-- I want to understand your business model, your position in the space, your people, and ultimately, your business objectives. Importantly, together we define what the best possible outcome should look like and how to accomplish the desired result in a cost-efficient manner, which often leads to alternative methods of resolutions, including mediation, arbitration – or even better – a business solution.

ChambersMark Beebe is ranked Band 3 in Litigation: General Commercial in Louisiana by Chambers USA.

Recognized in Louisiana as an accomplished antitrust and commercial litigation lawyer, Mark advises and advocates for businesses and related organizations in the energy, chemical, education, health care, maritime, gaming and automotive industries, just to name a few. Mark appears before jurisdictions including the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, various federal district courts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, and the state courts of Louisiana, Texas and the District of Columbia.

Mark has held several leadership positions both inside and outside the firm, which enhances his ability to understand some of the same management and business issues his clients encounter. Actively involved in firm management, he is the leader of the Firm’s emerging practice areas initiative, and previously served as the Litigation Practice Group Leader, Business Litigation Team Leader, Chair of the Recruiting Committee, Associate Liaison and Associate Claims Counsel. These positions helped Mark take an active role in the opening of the Birmingham, Memphis and Nashville offices. Additionally, he gained membership in the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute and election to Power Generation by New Orleans CityBusiness. Mark was recently elected to the Board of Lawyers for the Lawyers of Civil Justice.

Mark now serves as the President of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).

In keeping with the firm’s commitment to community service, Mark dedicates his time to helping various charitable and educational organizations. He previously served as President of the Jesuit High School Parents Board, President of the Jesuit High School Athletic Board, Chair of the Christian Brothers School Capital Campaign Major Gift Committee, President of the Stuart Hall Parents Club, and acted as counsel for the Friends of Pontiff Playground and the Pontiff Playground Boosters. In addition, he volunteered with several United Way charities, served as counsel to the Donald W. Richardson Memorial Trust Scholarship, and graduated from the Metropolitan Action Committee's Leadership Forum.

I had the extraordinary honor to represent 16,000 Louisiana charter school children whose $200 million in constitutionally protected funding was being challenged. After successfully trying the case and preserving the funding, the court of appeals reversed following three oral arguments. Thankfully, we were afforded the opportunity to argue before the Louisiana Supreme Court, which reinstated the trial court’s decision permitting these charter school students to continue to receive the constitutionally guaranteed funding. The decision is significant not only because it is a seminal case in Louisiana but also because the great result arose from my team’s diligence and dedication. And importantly, it was for the most worthy clients a lawyer in this state could ever represent, Louisiana’s children.
