Overview
Patrick D. Riley brings to each client matter broad experience that spans the executive, legislative, judicial, and regulatory arenas. His portfolio includes high-stakes trial and appellate litigation with matters in state and federal courts that include contractual disputes, governmental defense, and employment litigation. Leveraging his experience in government, political campaigns, and business, Patrick also advises candidates, campaigns, and commercial interests on matters of Louisiana state and local election law. As a litigator, Patrick understands that his work has real-world implications for those he represents. He finds that his highly proactive approach, advising clients clearly on the options available to them and the implications of each, provides strategic and tactical advantages to his clients, while always remaining ready to advocate for his client’s interests as a litigator. In addition to his litigation practice, Patrick utilizes his background in government and policy to maintain a focused Louisiana government relations practice. As former collegiate athlete, Patrick is no stranger to high-pressure situations and thrives on providing resolutions to clients when they need it most.
Prior to law school, Patrick held the prestigious Louisiana Governor’s Fellowship in the summer of 2020, supporting Governor John Bel Edwards in ensuring agency cohesion and compliance with Covid-19 protocols. This role included assessing and implementing directives from the White House and presenting research and policy recommendations directly to the Governor. He has helped craft policy and legislation for stakeholders and a wide range of elected officials. As a law student at LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Patrick was the Dean's Cup Moot Court Champion, in 2024.
Outside the office, Patrick enjoys spending time with his family and can often be found hunting or fishing, attending LSU sporting events, golfing, or reflecting on his time playing semi‑professional soccer for the Baton Rouge Capitals and Shreveport United.
Patrick also served as a staffer for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Louisiana, Judicial Extern for Hon.
