Overview

Shantanice Vaxter is a member of the Adams & Reese Corporate Services Practice Group and an Associate in the Tampa office.

Helping corporations plan for growth is a passion for Shantanice. Whether the client needs entity formation, management structure counseling, contract development and review, regulatory advice, or compliance assistance, she helps clients find the right solutions. Shantanice is also no stranger to litigation. She has a primary goal of keeping clients on the right side of every transaction and out of the courthouse, but she will litigate their case aggressively, if necessary.

As a summer associate for Adams & Reese, Shantanice drafted complaints, formal analyses, and correspondence; and conducted legal research and evidentiary data synthesis. As an accounting associate for a premier online real estate platform, Shantanice prepared SEC filings.

Shantanice brings a wealth of practical experience in accounting, financial analysis, and business finance. She has owned her own real estate and financial advising businesses. She has dealt with federal and local governments on many issues and worked directly with C-suite executives regarding stockholder and other stakeholder needs, as well as SEC reporting.

Before pursuing her J.D., Shantanice served as Acting Supervisory Special Agent, Federal Special Agent/Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Department of the Treasury (2005-2018). Shantanice was a certified instructor through the National Criminal Investigation Training Academy, teaching both domestically and internationally. Via the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, she investigated criminal money laundering, structuring, bank and wire fraud, identity theft, tax evasion, and drug trafficking schemes. She coordinated enforcement across multiple jurisdictions and testified as a government witness during grand jury hearings and trials. Shantanice conducted joint investigations with other federal law enforcement agencies, including the USPIS, FBI, and DEA.

Shantanice has a passion for pro bono work and community service. When she’s not counseling and representing clients at the firm, you may find her teaching as a Fellow at the University of Miami’s Human Rights Clinic. Shantanice is a Guardian Ad Litem in Hillsborough County.
