Adams & Reese Partner Roscoe Green is featured on a RoofersCoffeeShop podcast. In “Diversity, Growth, and Leadership in 2025,” Green discusses emerging industry trends, proactive legal strategies, and technology’s impact on roofing.
From tariffs to immigration policies and labor workforce shortages, Green also spoke about key issues impacting the construction industry.
“You’ve got the tariffs and the uncertainty surrounding them, which is obviously going to create potential for significant shifts in price and the availability of materials. … Then you have the new immigration policies, which are likely to decrease the skilled labor pool,” said Green. “You have an administration that’s focused on massive foreign investments in the U.S. That’s going to create new companies, new mergers and acquisitions in the market.”
Green added: “Then there’s a shift towards manufacturing in the U.S. and that’s going to create more job opportunities. You combine that with a shortage of qualified labor. I think there’s going to be increased competition for the roofing industry for not only skilled labor, but management personnel as well.”
Green said roofing companies can be proactive amidst the increases in material prices and the industry concerns. “Get with your legal team and look at your contract – put in force majeure provisions that make sense and price escalation provisions that make sense.”
Artificial intelligence is also having an impact on the roofing industry. “There is an AI program that could help with lead generation and products that identify potential customers to create personalized marketing campaigns, scouring the property records, and figuring out how old the roofs are,” sad Green. “There’s just some cool stuff coming out and that interests new individuals coming into the roofing market, smart roofing technology, smart leak detection … it really is a great time to be in the roofing industry.”
As the Adams & Reese Diversity Committee Co-Chair and as HBCU Practice Team Leader, Green also spoke about the intersection of law, diversity, and construction. Companies may have to be creative to continue to attract and retain their workforce.
“Roofing companies are going to have to be creative with this climate and attract and retain their employees. There’s a lot of competition going on. There’s a lot of uncertainty. And quite frankly, we’re in an employee market and so the leaders of the companies are going to really have to figure out creative ways to attract and retain roofing personnel,” said Green.
