Gonzalez Receives Alumni Award from UGA’s Hispanic & Latino Law Students Association

Adams & Reese Counsel Javier Gonzalez received the inaugural Alumno del Año Award from the University of Georgia Law School’s Hispanic & Latino Law Students Association (HLLSA). Gonzalez is a 2017 LL.M. graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, and the HLLSA is a student-run organization that supports and promotes Hispanic and Latino students’ academic and professional success within the law school and nearby community.

Gonzalez served as a keynote speaker and received the top alumni honor at the HLLSA Awards Ceremony held April 17 at the Larry Walker Room, Rusk Hall, UGA School of Law. The ceremony also celebrated and recognized HLLSA’s graduating J.D. and LL.M. students, 1L and 2L members. For its members, the HLLSA hosts welcome events, writing workshops, finals preparation sessions, and professional networking opportunities.

A respected leader in Georgia’s Hispanic and Latino legal communities, Gonzalez serves as Counsel in the Adams & Reese Atlanta office and as a member of the national law firm’s Corporate Services Practice Group and the Mergers & Acquisitions Team. With a journey spanning Venezuela, Spain, and the U.S., Gonzalez represents clients in middle-market M&A, international business transactions, and corporate law.

Gonzalez has advised commercial domestic and cross-border transactions in different industries, including manufacturing, distribution and franchising, food manufacturing and logistics, and construction, among others. He serves as corporate counsel for numerous domestic and multinational small and middle-market companies, including legal representation in foreign direct investment, corporate structuring, trade, M&A deals, and general advisory services.

Beyond his legal practice, Gonzalez is an active member of the Atlanta Hispanic community, mentoring students and entrepreneurs, supporting nonprofits, and helping emerging leaders build successful businesses. His commitment to empowering others extends to his role as a frequent lecturer at prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, and Sorbonne University, and at leading organizations, including the Latin American Association, and the State Bar of Georgia.

Gonzalez serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Hispanic Construction Association and the Atlanta Bar Association – International Law Section.
