Overview

August Simien is a member of the Adams & Reese Litigation Practice Group in the firm’s New Orleans office.

With a practice focused on general litigation and appellate, August represents clients in a wide range of disputes in both state and federal courts. His experience includes contract disputes, commercial litigation, personal injury, and products liability.

August approaches litigation with the belief that effective representation begins with attentive listening. He strives to understand not only the legal issues at stake but also each client’s broader business objectives. Recognizing that dispute resolution never follows a one-size-fits-all approach, he develops strategies grounded in clear reasoning and established legal principles that align with the client’s goals. Clients value August’s ability to make them feel heard and his commitment to providing thoughtful, result-oriented representation.

Moot court was a highlight of August’s law school experience. In his second year at Tulane Law, he competed in the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition and won the 2024 Southwestern Regional Championship. He served as Head Coach in his third year and led his team to win both the 2025 Southwestern Regional Championship and the 2025 National Championship. He also participated as a student attorney for Tulane’s Civil Rights and Federal Practice Clinic during his third year in law school. Additionally, he was one of only ten graduating law students inducted into the Order of Barristers, a national honorary organization for the top oral advocates and brief writers at various law schools. As an undergraduate at Louisiana State University, August held numerous leadership roles, including co-chair of the Black Male Leadership Initiative, an invited student-presenter to the LSU Board of Supervisors as a campus leader, and Vice President of Academic & Community Outreach for the National Panhellenic Council Executive Board.
