Overview

August Simien is an associate attorney in Adams & Reese’s New Orleans office and a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He represents clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including insurance defense, medical malpractice, labor and employment, education law, corporate litigation, and appellate cases.

Before his final year of law school, August clerked as a summer associate at the firm, where he drafted motions, pleadings, and memorandums, attended court hearings and trials, observed depositions, and conducted extensive discovery. This experience provided him with practical insight into all stages of litigation. Today, August handles cases from inception to resolution, working closely with clients to understand their objectives and advocating vigorously to protect their interests at all stages. He is committed to addressing both the legal issues and the broader business goals of each client.

Moot court was a highlight of August’s law school career. In his second year at Tulane Law School, he won the 2024 Southwestern Regional Championship in the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition. As Head Coach in his third year, he led his team to victories in both the 2025 Southwestern Regional Championship and the 2025 National Championship. He also served as a student attorney in Tulane’s Civil Rights and Federal Practice Clinic during his third year. August was one of only ten graduating law students inducted into the Order of Barristers, a national honor recognizing top oral advocates and brief writers. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy with a minor in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, where he held several leadership roles, including co-chair of the Black Male Leadership Initiative, student-presenter to the LSU Board of Supervisors as a campus leader, Vice President of Academic & Community Outreach for the National Panhellenic Council Executive Board, and president of his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
