Overview

Marcelle Lafranca advises and represents clients across a wide range of complex disputes. She believes strong communication skills are essential for a litigator, not only for presenting cases before judges, juries, and arbitration panels, but also for keeping clients informed at every step of their case, in terms they can understand and in situations that may be especially stressful.

Prior to joining the firm, Marcelle externed for the Hon. Donna Phillips Currault, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, where she gained valuable experience assessing cases from a judicial perspective. She prepared bench memos and bench motions, drafted orders in federal civil and criminal matters, and reviewed pleadings, building a strong foundation for advising clients on appropriate litigation strategies and tactics. During other legal internships, she supported matters spanning breach of contract, unfair and deceptive trade practices, negligence, workers' compensation, catastrophic injury litigation, class actions, and consumer-related claims.

As a law student at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, Marcelle participated in the student Federal Bar Association, served on the moot court staff, took part in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and served as Vice President of the Maritime Law Society. She participated in the Loyola Law Study Abroad Program in Spetses, Greece, and was a member of the Loyola Law Review. In addition, Marcelle served as a teaching assistant in a civil law bar preparation course and as a research assistant for a noted professor, for whom she drafted and edited articles for publication.
