Overview
Margaret Ann Macloud is a member of the Adams & Reese Litigation Practice Group and an Associate in the New Orleans office.
Margaret Ann represents clients in a wide variety of disputes, encompassing such diverse issues as toxic torts, medical malpractice, maritime disputes, labor and employment, government relations, appeals, and more. Margaret Ann clerked for several law firms, including Adams & Reese, and she also interned as a legal aide in the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s office.
Drawing on a ten-year background in communications prior to studying law – including a bachelor’s degree in journalism – Margaret Ann understands the critical importance of client communications and the role of precision in developing legal strategies and documentation. She served as a media relations specialist for the University of Southern Mississippi, director of communications for the office of the Mississippi Attorney General, and national press secretary for the State Innovation Exchange in Washington, DC. In these roles she coordinated media coverage, wrote speeches and press releases regarding legal matters, and provided messaging for lawmakers, among other responsibilities. Margaret Ann credits her work in the Mississippi Attorney General’s office with the inspiration to bring her communication skills to the arena of law and, especially, litigation.
As evidence of Margaret Ann’s ability to help resolve difficult disputes with high emotions between parties, she used her position as a Rule XX Practitioner during law school to represent a child in a parental custody battle, which included oral arguments, motions, and drafting a summary judgment — resulting in the reinstatement of joint custody. Since 1971, Louisiana’s Rule XX has given additional experience to law students and provided legal services to the community’s indigence.
A magna cum laude graduate of Loyola University College of Law, Margaret Ann served on the Loyola Maritime Law Journal where she published an article on the consequences of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. She was inducted into the Order of Barristers, served as events and alumni chair for the Trial Advocacy Board, competed in trial advocacy, and was a member of the Moot Court staff.
As an undergraduate in journalism at the University of Mississippi, Margaret Ann was inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement, leadership, and service.
