The 2025 Pro Bono Scorecard by ALM/Law.com ranks Adams & Reese among the nation’s top 100 law firms providing pro bono service. Adams & Reese has ranked on the prestigious list since 2007.

The annual scorecard calculates a law firm’s ranking based on both the average number of pro bono hours and the percentage of attorneys who performed more than 20 pro bono hours in 2024. Adams & Reese ranks No. 98 overall after achieving an average of 20.6 pro bono hours per attorney and having 30.1% of its attorneys recording more than 20 pro bono hours.

“We are proud of our attorneys for their continued commitment to pro bono service. This ranking is a testament to our very DNA, where it’s woven into the fabric of our firm’s longstanding culture to give back to the communities we serve,” says Todd Engelhardt, Adams & Reese’s firmwide Pro Bono Committee Chair and Birmingham Office Partner in Charge.

Engelhardt leads the law firm’s longstanding official pro bono program, CA&RE (Caring Adams & Reese Employees), which coordinates the pro bono efforts across all Adams & Reese offices nationwide. Adams & Reese has a representative attorney from each office that volunteers on the pro bono committee. They work with attorneys from their respective offices to look for opportunities to provide pro bono counsel outside of their common practices, and to partner with bar associations and legal aid organizations on pro bono projects and event workshops.

In addition to Engelhardt in Birmingham, members of the Adams & Reese Pro Bono Committee include: Tim Veith (Atlanta); Bill Shea (Baton Rouge); Lyndey Bryant (Columbia); Cassie Walsh (Houston); Tim Anzenberger (Jackson); Angela Grewal (Jacksonville); Ben Fox (Memphis); Scott Hetrick (Mobile); Joshua Cumby (Nashville); Kyle Potts (New Orleans); Ryan Owen (Sarasota); Eric Partlow (Tampa); and Matt Paxton (Washington, DC).

“The volunteers on our committee are a very valuable part of our process and our success with our CA&RE program,” says Engelhardt. “One of the areas we are most proud of at Adams & Reese is our collaboration among our more than 300 attorneys and advisors. That collegiality is very much demonstrated in our pro bono efforts – forming a very organized approach to empower our attorneys with opportunities to serve as pro bono counsel and, in the process, to help members of the communities in which we serve. We take great pride in our commitment to providing pro bono services.”
